Yesterday was a pretty big day for me. As you might have read from my last post I was extremely nervous. What for?
I met up with my high school sweetheart which I had not seen or had contact with in over eight years.
Talk about a blast from the past.
It all happened because I randomly ran into her mother in the grocery store earlier this week, and then she told me she was going to be flying into town for a few days. Old feelings obviously quickly became stirred up and I thought that it would be very nice to see her.
I reached out and she reached back and we met up.
It was a short-ish meeting. Not for only 10 minutes but maybe 45 or so. We chatted about things and I gave her the best recap I could on where I was at over the past eight years (as much as I could in such a short amount of time at least.)
I still wish I got to hear more about her! She kept wanting me to tell her about me so I kept on going.
It really is strange meeting someone like that. In reality it has been forever, but in another sense it feels like we never were apart.
Very strange feeling. Good feeling, but strange feeling.
At the end when she had to go I gave her a gift that I had made for her this week. She asked if she should open it now and I said no, wait until later. She said she would open it on Christmas. We said goodbye and parted ways for who knows how long. Will there be a next time?
Very strange feeling.
About an hour later I got a text back that she couldn’t wait and that she had opened the gift. She said it was very thoughtful and that it was nice seeing me and Merry Christmas. I returned the same and said I’m always here.
So that was it. Now it’s the day after. She will be heading back to the East Coast, and I will be staying right here. Time to return to normal life and get back to everything I was doing before this week. Just work and work. But that’s good, I’m excited to.
Who knows what I might be up to next time we meet? I plan to have some even better stories for her then.
